Equiller Mahone
Equiller Mahone is Assistant Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Centers of Mississippi. The mission of CACM is to support the development and continuation of children's advocacy centers that meet the accreditation standards of the National Children's Alliance and to improve the ability and skill of Mississippi's child abuse professionals to better serve victims of child abuse.
Equiller was raised in Eufaula, Alabama. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama.
Equiller relocated to Jackson, MS in December of 2019 to accept the position of Assistant Executive Director. The mission of CACM is to support the development and continuation of children's advocacy centers that meet the accreditation standards of the National Children's Alliance and to improve the ability and skill of Mississippi's child abuse professionals to better serve victims of child abuse.
Equiller was first introduced to the child advocacy field in 2012. She was the Child and Family Advocate for Tuscaloosa Children’s Center from 2012 to 2016. During this time, she became a trained forensic interviewer and served as a backup forensic interviewer. She continued to work on a contractual basis as forensic interviewer until 2019.
Prior to accepting this positon Equiller served as Executive Director of Turning Point, a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive quality services to primary and secondary victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and empowers survivors to make productive decisions to improve their futures. Turning Point also focuses on awareness and informing communities in order to prevent future violence and promote healthy relationships. Equiller was also an adjunct instructor in the Human Development and Family Studies Department at the University of Alabama.
